Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has announced that it is introducing a range of reduced-sugar sauces that are made from 100% natural ingredients and free-range eggs.
The supermarket is launching five new sugar-free private-label snack sauces, as well as a no added sugar ketchup, and says that it plans to further expand this line later in the year.
These developments are part of a redesign of Albert Heijn's sauce offering. The retailer has expanded the space devoted to these products in its stores, with more branded and private-label products, including an extended range of AH mayonnaise with six new new varieties - olive, lemon, yoghurt, truffle, cocktail and garlic pepper.
Healthier Options
The new natural sauce products are in line with Albert Heijn's continued efforts to reduce sugar across its private-label ranges.
Last year, the retailer reduced the sugar content in over 100 products that are frequently purchased by families with children, and committed to providing healthier alternatives for young people.
Albert Heijn says that it hopes these changes will inspire shoppers, and help them to make choices for a healthier lifestyle.
