The board of directors of Carrefour Brazil (Atacadão) has chosen Noël Prioux to replace Charles André Pierre Desmartis as CEO of the company.
Prioux is currently the executive director of Carrefour in France. The move to take over the company's business in Brazil follows Desmartis's resignation to focus on projects outside the group, effective from 2 October.
The appointment is also part of a larger reorganisation, announced last week by the new CEO of Carrefour Group, Alexandre Bompard, creating a new group executive committee for the company.
Management Changes
Carrefour Brazil clarifies that Prioux's appointment is subject to visa approval, and that the vice-president of finance and investor relations, Sébastien Durchon, will hold the position of CEO until the conclusion of the process, which could take up to 30 days.
According to a company statement, Prioux will also occupy the vacancy left by Desmartis on the board of directors of Carrefour Brazil. The board also chose Frédéric Haffner to replace Vincent Arnaud Xavier Abello as a board member.
In addition to these management changes, Carrefour Brazil announced the issuance of R$2 billion (€535.2 million) in commercial promissory notes.
The proceeds from the transaction will be used for the payment of mutual loans between the remaining companies of the group, working capital reinforcement, and business management.
