Carrefour has created a new concept with the opening of the Alcobendas Market in Madrid, a 'street market' located along the hypermarket's shopping arcade.
According to revistainforetail.com, this space has created over 30 jobs and offers a 'foodie' experience, offering five gourmet spaces that come from regional restaurant and catering businesses. The 800 square-metre space also comprises 120 square metres of terrace.
This is the second gourmet store that Carrefour has opened. The first one, also located in Madrid, merged fresh and seasonal produce with a wide offer of premium foods.
Francisco López Nieto, Regional Director of Carrefour in Madrid, said that Carrefour are betting on innovative concepts. "The experience after these few weeks has been very positive, therefore we are convinced that the Alcobendas Market will soon become a gastronomic hot spot for the Madrid community."
