Spanish retailer Caprabo has launched a campaign aimed at promoting and increasing awareness of local products amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The initiative, which runs for the month of June, includes information and discounts of up to 50% on more than 150 SKUs from small producers and agricultural cooperatives in Catalonia.
The campaign includes fruit, vegetables, dairy products, eggs, pastries, cookies, cooked legumes, nuts, rice, oil, deli foods, as well as denomination of origin wines and sparkling wine.
Retail Commitment
Commenting on the initiative, Fernando Tercero, head of proximity at Caprabo said, “The campaign [underscores] Caprabo's commitment to these local producers.”
Caprabo’s proximity programme commenced in 2013, and since then, more than 300 small producers and agricultural cooperatives, representing more than 2,600 products across the chain’s stores, have joined the programme.
In 2019, the sale of local products in Caprabo stores increased 6.5%, which was 20% higher than the company’s forecast for that year.
The sale of small producers and agricultural cooperatives’ goods exceeded €31.3 million during this past year, it added.
