Carrefour Belgium has introduced new measures to ensure the safety of staff during the coronavirus epidemic, including the distribution of yellow vests adorned with a message inviting customers to respect the principle of social distancing.
The retailer has also distributed plastic face shields to protect employees.
The company introduced these protective measures for its staff and customers, following the introduction of a safety directive from the country’s government aimed at protecting the Belgian population against COVID-19.
Ensuring Compliance
While most customers were respectful of the government’s directives and were following the social distancing measures to the letter, some customers did not always fully comply, Carrefour Belgium said.
In response to this situation, employees now had the option of choosing from various protective options and security solutions specifically adapted to their activity within the store.
“The health of our employees and our customers remains our top priority. With these new measures, we want to allow everyone to work or shop in a secure and serene environment,” said François-Melchior de Polignac, CEO Carrefour Belgium.
