Eroski has announced plans to donate eight tonnes of food to the food banks of Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Álava in Spain.
This initiative will be undertaken in collaboration with the Spanish Federation of Food Banks (FESBAL).
The donation will be added to the contributions customers are making at the checkout counters in the group’s stores, it said.
Commenting on the initiative, Alejandro Martínez Berriochoa, director of health and sustainability at Eroski, said, "we are aware of how this crisis affects the most vulnerable groups in society.
“Once again we offer our help and immediate solidarity to the commendable work carried out by food banks to help those who need it most at this time,"
