Ukrainian retailer Silpo has announced the allocation of UAH 100 million (€3.3 million) towards the purchase of hospital equipment and medical supplies, amidst the growing coronavirus epidemic.
The retailer, which is part of the Fozzy Group conglomerate, said that it has consulted with Ukraine's Ministry of Health on areas in which it can provide assistance.

"As a responsible business, we cannot avoid this situation," said Alexander Pryadukhin, director of retail sales at Silpo. "We also understand the urgent needs that exist in Ukraine right now."
The group said that to date, UAH 13 million of its allocation has been used to purchase 12 Swiss-made Hamilton ventilators, for use in the health service.
"After arrival in Ukraine, this equipment will be sent to hospitals in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Kirovograd, Chernivtsi and the Ivano-Frankivsk regions," said Pryadukhin.
Silpo operates 260 supermarkets across Ukraine, including four Le Silpo delicatessen stores.
