The value of New Zealand wine exports grew by 14 per cent during 2015 to reach a value of €906 million, and is expected to be worth in excess of a billion euro by 2020, TheDrinksBusiness reports.
The value of exports to the UK, its most important EU market, increased by 12 per cent to €225 million, while the figure for the US reached €272 million (a rise of 26 per cent). The value of New Zealand's wine exports to Canada went up to €59 million (an increase of 18 per cent).
"Underlying the growth is the very positive reputation of New Zealand wine amongst consumers and the wine trade globally," said Philip Gregan, CEO of New Zealand Winegrowers.
"The new record level of wine exports is an outstanding achievement for New Zealand wine exporters and testifies to the strong global demand for our wines."
