According to a report on Spanish consumption patterns, published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food (MAGRAMA), wine consumption reached a total of 8.45 litres per capita in 2015
The report, analysed on vinetur.com, says that wines without denominación de origen (DO) or geographic indications are the most consumed in the country, accounting for an average of 4.10 litres per capita (48.6 per cent).
Despite non-DO wines accounting for almost half of the total consumption, they only account for 22.2 per cent of the income generated in the category. The overall category experienced a decrease in volume of 3.9 per cent last year.
Still wines experienced a small growth of 1.1 per cent in consumption compared to 2014.
