Groupe Casino’s Cdiscount is set to launch its 2015 wine fair, which will be among the 'most interactive' of such events ever staged by a supermarket chain online, rayon-boisson and lsa.fr report.
The company has installed an online chat forum, through which wine buyers can engage in live webchat with Cdiscount’s wine experts.
Chloé Deve, the website’s content manager, said that the objective of the new service is to “make the process of purchasing wine through the internet a more human experience.”
A noted advantage of the system from the perspective of the consumer is that Cdiscount wine experts have the freedom to dispense advice which runs contrary to that of the brand ambassadors of various châteaux, who often are present in Casino supermarkets and hypermarkets stores during the event.
Cdiscount’s head wine-buyer, Dominique Rey, commented, “Customers naturally seek out the opinions of other customers. With our interactive chat service, we’re really trying to go that step further.”
