Drinks giant Diageo has announced the opening of its newly-relocated North American headquarters in Lower Manhattan, New York.
In 2019, the company announced that it it would relocate its regional headquarters from Norwalk, Connecticut, to 3 World Trade Center in New York.
With the move, Diageo has brought 350 new jobs to the city, while preserving 150 existing jobs.
The space was designed to promote flexibility and collaboration, and to 'enable agility and modern ways of working', the company said.
Expanded Capabilities
Commenting on the move, Diageo’s North American executive vice president of human resources, Laura Watt said, “Situating ourselves in the heart of one of the world’s most exciting cities allows us to expand access to diverse talent pools and capabilities.”
The space was designed to maximise connectivity, incorporate state-of-the-art technology and include a variety of dynamic spaces, the company said, such as areas for higher-energy work, sound-proof phone booths and 'libraries' designed to facilitate privacy and focus.
Diageo's North American president Deirdre Mahlan commented, “As a company whose brands are part of a legacy more than 300 years in the making, we know from experience that embracing the power of change is core to our success.”
She continued, “This move represents a significant shift, not just in where we work, but how we work, enabling us to eliminate boundaries, be bolder, more future-focused, and closer to a nucleus of diverse consumers.”
