Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Limited (GIIL) and Diageo have awarded first prize for ‘Best Business to Business Partnership’, at the annual Responsible Business Awards ceremony in London.
There were over 400 entries from across Europe for the awards, of which 91 were finalists, with 13 overall category winners.
GIIL and Diageo were recognised as having created a ‘benchmark’ sustainability programme, the ‘Sustainable Cream initiative’, which covers the entire chain process from the milk supplied by Glanbia’s farmers, to the final product of Baileys Irish Cream liqueur.
Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Limited has been the sole supplier of cream to Baileys since their partnership began in 1974.
Speaking at the Responsible Business Awards ceremony, Jim Bergin, CEO of Glanbia Ingredients Ireland Limited said, “It is a huge achievement for both Diageo and Glanbia Ingredients Ireland to be internationally recognised for our B2B partnership, the ‘Sustainable Cream initiative’.
“The success of the initiative has demonstrated that an uncompromising focus on sustainability can have long-term commercial benefits.”
Luis Rangel, Global Head of Commodities and Raw Materials for Diageo said, “It is important that our business partners share our values with respect to sustainability, responsible sourcing and ethical business practices. Glanbia has been an outstanding example for everything this award represents.”
