Groupe Casino has employed its first female head wine buyer in Sophie Talbot, who will control Géant’s and Casino’s viticultural purchases from the Loire Valley, Alsace, Jura, Savoie, south-west France, and foreign countries, LSA reports.
Talbot has worked for Groupe Casino for eight years, and for its wine jurisdiction since February of this year. She has earned a degree from the École des hautes études commerciales de Paris, and has been made a sommelier-conseil of the Caviste de l’Université du Vin de Suze-la-Rousse (a high-grade qualification of expertise in wine).
She joins Ludovic Paternotte, Groupe Casino’s wine buyer for Bordeaux, the Languedoc-Roussillon region, vins de pays, and indication géographique protégée wines; and Arnaud Matéos, his counterpart for Beaujolais, Burgundy, the Rhône Valley, Provence and sparkling wine.
The three head wine buyers report to Stéphane Cathelain, the group’s director of drinks and wine.
