Heineken and A-B InBev were the best performing out of the global beer giants last year, according to new research from Euromonitor International.
According to their 'Global Brewers’ 2014 Results: Champions and Disappointments' article, while global beer sales were forecast to grow by 2% in 2014, volume sales declines in Russia and China and a 'dreary' performance in the US and Western Europe meant that sales actually fell last year.
Heineken's 2014 volume sales, however, showed a reverse in performance with 2% growth last year, following a 'dismal' 2013 performance. A-B InBev reported 0.5% volume growth in 2014, compared to the previous year’s decline of 2%.
Elsewhere, Carlsberg A/S reported a 3% decline in organic volume sales in its 2014, and SABMiller Plc showed a slowdown in volume sales in its half-year results - the brewer's full year results are expected later this year.
