Heineken has announced that it has joined a new coalition to develop and enhance safeguards to prevent the online sales and delivery of alcoholic drinks to minors and reduce harmful drinking among adults.
The company is a signatory to the International Alliance for Responsible Drinking (IARD), which aims to reduce harmful drinking and support partnerships in markets worldwide in response to local needs and cultures.
The partnership comprises the global CEOs of 12 leading beer, wine, and spirits companies, online retailers, and e-commerce and delivery platforms.
Responsible Business Practices
The coalition will set and live up to the highest standards of responsible business practices for customers, it said.
Justin Kissinger, director of global public policy at Heineken, said, "The world continues to move toward e-commerce, and COVID-19 has only accelerated that trend. Heineken is committed to the highest standards for responsible sales and marketing of alcohol.
“We are excited to join with other industry leaders to develop safeguards that ensure alcohol doesn’t end up with minors and that support reductions in harmful drinking. I hope this initiative will grow to include more partners in the months and years ahead.”
