Italian brewer Peroni has officially gone under the control of Asahi Group.
After a year of negotiations, the company has been sold by Anheuser-Busch InBev to the Japanese firm, which already manages Royal Grolsch and Meantime Breweries.
Neil Kiely, managing director of Birra Peroni, said that the company will remain in Italy, as it is an important part of the industrial culture of that country.
Peroni operates factories in Roma, Padua and Bari, and its malt comes from Pomezia, near Rome.
It is confident that a higher level of brand distribution and its awareness around the world will be developed as a result of this agreement.
