Italian Wine Union Anticipates Sales Of €5.5 Billion In 2016

The Italian union of wine companies, UIV (Unione Italiana Vini), has forecast sales of €5.5 billion in 2016, according to data supplied by Ismea.

According to the group, wine export reached €3 billion between January and July, a +1.1% increase if compared with the same period in 2015.

Spumante is driving sales growth, with an increase of +26% (€517 million), while Prosecco is increasing by 33% (€456 million).

In terms of export markets, USA is currently the largest (+1% on 2015 figures - €771 million), followed by UK (€400 million), Austria (€54,6 million) and the Netherlands (€76 million). There is good news also from China and Russia, which have seen a growth in sales of +10% and +11% respectively.
