German brewing company Krombacher has announced that it is continuing the species protection project it started in 2016.
Based on the motto 'Schützen und Genießen' (protect and enjoy), Krombacher will donate money to its partners - the Deutsche Umwelthilfe, NABU and WWF - for each crate of beer sold. An additional €500,000 will be donated directly to expand the long-term projects that were started last year.
Increasing Success
Projects to conserve and improve endangered species’ habitats are being carried out in seven different areas throughout Germany, benefitting rare animals such as lynx, otters, grey seals, long-tailed ducks, black storks and lesser spotted eagles.
“Everywhere in Germany, the response to the Krombacher species protection project has been enormous. We promised to continue and are now excited to make the animals' voices heard again,” said Wolfgang Schötz, Krombacher’s head of sales and marketing, who is responsible for all environmental protection projects.
The company says that the projects are proving to be successful. For example, lynx offspring and grey seals have been sighted in areas where they have not been seen in years.
