Latour Going Organic

Latour L'Enclos, the walled vineyard of the highly prestigious Bordeaux estate Château Latour, is now operated entirely by organic methods.

The 2015 vintage will be the first yield of wine produced 100 per cent organically from the grapes of the 47-hectare plot of land in question.

Jean Garandeau, the marketing director of Château Latour, was quoted as saying by Decantor.com, “From the 2015 vintage growing season, 100 per cent of L’Enclos is now organic, and 50 per cent is farmed biodynamically.”

The practice means that chemical weed killers and herbicides are foregone in favour of organic composts.

Château Latour reintroduced horse-ploughing in 2008.
