For Lidl UK’s spring wine promotion, Wine Cellar, it has added 57 new products to its portfolio, including three English wines, nine Hungarian wines, 12 French wines, five Italian wines, an Argentinian Malbec, four South African wines, three Australian wines, and a high-scoring Hawke’s Bay Syrah (New Zealand).
The Lidl Wine Cellar event will feature English wines for the first time in the form of three Broadwood’s Folly bottles – a 2013 Brut made of Reichensteiner, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (£14.99) – as well as a Broadwoods white and a rosé (each £7.99).
Hungarian wine, Tokaji Furmint Château Dereszla 2015 (£5.99) has been selected as one of the ‘Best Picks’ by the chain’s MW Richard Bampfield.
He also picked the La Méridionale Western Cape Chenin Blanc-Grenache-Roussanne 2015 (South Africa, £5.49), the aforementioned Hawke’s Bay Syrah 2015 (£8.99), Coonawarra, Axis Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 (Australia, £6.49), and the Broadwood’s Folly Brut.
OffLicenceNews.co.uk quoted Lidl UK’s head of wine, Ben Hulme, saying, "The ambition of our Wine Cellar promotion is to offer something a little different for our customers, and challenge their expectations. The new Hungarian and English wines are sure to prove popular – whether for wine aficionados, or those looking to vary their home collection."
The wines will be available while stocks last.
