Lidl UK is to begin selling English wine Broadwoods Folly, capitalising on the mounting market demand for domestically produced wine in Britain, theguardian.com reports.
Wines available at the discounter will include Broadwoods Folly's rosé and white wines (each £7.99), as well as its sparkling white (£14.99),
The follows similar inroads into the UK-made-wine market made by Marks & Spencer and Waitrose. The statistics suggest that as a drinks sub-category, UK wine will continue to burgeon over the coming years.
The English & Welsh Wine Industry, a body which represents its interests, said, “It is a great time for English wines. With the ever-growing consumer interest in, and demand for English wines, this is an exciting move within the multiple sector to make English wines even more accessible.”
