C&C Group has announced that its Magners Original Apple has been voted Australia's best cider, winning 'Best in Show' at the 2017 Australian Cider Awards.
The product saw off competition from 250 local and international ciders, and was also awarded 'Best New World Cider' and 'Best International Cider'.
The judges said that Magners cider was awarded the top prize due to its 'perfect balance of sugar, tannin and overall complexity, combined with toasty, savoury, creamy notes'.
Australian Market
C&C, which manufactures brands such as Bulmers cider and Tennants beer, sells Mangers Original, Magners Pear, and Magners Blonde in the Australian market. The products are distributed in the region by Coca-Cola Amatil.
"This is international recognition for a cider that proudly adheres to the traditional methods employed since it was founded in 1935," said Jason Ash, chief marketing officer at C&C Group.
"Australia is an integral international market for the group, with sustained strong growth recorded in the last year. We’re excited with the prospects of our distribution agreement with Coca-Cola Amatil, with whom we share this great success.”
Last week, C&C Group reported revenues of €273.1 million in the first half of the year, representing a 6.8% decline.
