Marks and Spencer is attempting to entice consumers into its supermarkets through adding jeroboam (for times as big as a standard bottle) bottles of prosecco to its drinks offering, theguardian.com reports.
The Monticella product, which retails at £45, represents a de facto discount, as it costs the same amount as three standard bottles. It carries the Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita mark.
M&S’s wine buyer Dror Nativ, said, “Prosecco has become the UK’s favourite sparkling wine, and we launched our 75cl Monticella DOCG prosecco last year to show the amazing quality that can be produced in this region.
“It’s become one of our best-selling sparkling wines, proving that customers are happy to splash out a little more to enjoy this richer, more expressive style. This encouraged us to take the next step and introduce a jeroboam size – the ultimate dramatic bottle for impressing your guests at Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties this festive season.”
