In the United States, a new bill has been passed which should facilitate a rise in spirit exports.
The Distilled Spirits Council (DISCUS) claims that the exportation of American spirits has trebled within the past decade. The US senate’s decision to green-light the latest legislation will further bolster the market sector, which is worth more than $1.5 billion. Of this, $1 billion was generated Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey sales.
DISCUS said, “This bill sends a signal to the rest of the world that the United States is serious about concluding important trade negotiations.
“Trade promotion authority is crucial to completing market-opening agreements, such as TPP [Trans-Pacific Partnership], which will benefit US spirits exporters of all sizes and support US jobs across the country.”
