Drinks company Pernod Ricard has secured the top spot in Vigeo Eiris’ international corporate responsibility index for September 2016. It was awarded for its environmental protection policies and its mitigation of products' 'societal impacts', the company announced last week.
In total, 39 drinks companies were assessed by the research agency. Pernod’s overall score stood at 58/100.
It currently possesses an ‘A-’ grade from the UK’s Carbon Disclosure Project for its actions to better manage climate change, which include its pledge to reduce CO2 emissions per unit produced on production sites by 25% between 2010 and 2016 and 30% by 2020.
The French firm now qualifies for the Euronext Vigeo Eiris ‘World 120’ index, which includes the 120 most-advanced companies globally for corporate responsibility. It is also part of the company's 'France 20' listing, which identifies the 20 highest-ranked companies in France for corporate responsibility.
Vigeo Eiris is an Anglo-French body which was formed through an amalgamation of Vigeo and EIRIS last year.
The French agricultural ministry also awarded Pernod brand Mumm champagne the Haute Valeur Environnementale classification for the sustainability of its viticulture.
