The regulating board of the Spanish D.O. Ribera del Duero is expecting the 2016 vintage to be "very good" and feature grapes of a very high quality.
As reported by vinetur.com, Enrique Pascual, president of the council, is positive about the vintage, with the harvest to be concluded in the upcoming weeks.
If the weather conditions remain favourable, 2016 could be a very good year for Ribera del Duero wines as the year has seen a rainy winter and spring, and a very hot summer which was alleviated by September rains. The season has also provided the warm days and cold nights that are so beneficial for the grapes to develop to their potential.
Ribera del Duero wines are well established in several European markets including the UK, Ireland, Denmark and Netherlands, they are also popular in the United States and Mexico.
