UK retailer Sainsbury's has unveiled a 'Rosé Report' that aims to 'uncork' the potential for this popular drink in the market.
The research found that over 15 million bottles of rosé are sold every year at the retailer, while one in ten bottles of still wine sold at a Sainsbury's outlet is now a rosé.
“It’s the perfect time for Sainsbury’s to launch this exciting report. Rosé Uncorked shows that consumer habits are constantly changing in the world of wine," said Elizabeth Newman, head of beers, wines and spirits at Sainsbury’s.
"It’s particularly interesting to see that younger consumers are opting for lighter-coloured rosé and I think the glamour, associated with the paler pink ‘celebrity choice’ styles, has certainly boosted this trend”.
The study also found that increasing numbers of millenials are turning to rosé as an 'aspirational' drink choice.
