To mark the Chinese New Year, Sainsbury’s has added a Chinese wine SKU to its drinks portfolio.
Noble Dragon Red, available for an initial price of £8, is predominantly Cabernet Gernischt (Carmenère), blended with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. It is a product of Changyu, the first wine producer in China (established in 1892).
Georgina Haughton, Sainsbury’s wine buyer for South Africa, South America and China, told Decanter.com, “We know customers are keen to broaden their repertoire and we’ve been looking to some distinctive regions and countries for new additions to expand our range.”
Recently, Amazon China revealed that Rhône Valley SKU Joël Robuchon Ventoux was its top-selling wine.
