Starbucks, the world’s largest coffee-shop chain, has placed second on a list of China's most powerful fashion and lifestyle brands.
The Seattle-based chain ranked only behind fashion label Chanel as the most powerful premium brand for Chinese consumers, according to data collected by fashion and luxury good business Luxe.CO.
American and European brands feature heavily in the Top 100 list, which was put together using analysis of sales, online activity and a survey of mid to high-end Chinese shoppers.
The Top 10 brands on the list are as follows:
1. Chanel
2. Starbucks
3. Cartier
4. IKEA
5. Nike
6. Adidas
7. Louis Vuitton
8. Uniqlo
9. Dior
10. Burberry
Starbucks entered China in 1999, opening its first store in Beijing. It now operates around 2,000 stores in 100 cities, and has plans to grow that number to 3,400 by 2019.
