Following a like-for-like rise of 40 per cent on its 2015 rosé wine sales, UK retailer Waitrose has introduced its first rosé magnum – Barton and Guestier Passeport 2015 Côtes de Provence Rosé, France.
A magnum bottle, at 1.5 litres, is twice the size of a standard wine bottle, and provides 8.5 small glasses, or six large glasses, of wine, Waitrose says.
It is a “pale, dry rosé is packed with fresh, red berry fruit and a zesty, aromatic finish”, according to the grocer’s description. It will retail at £19.99.
Pierpaolo Petrassi, the company’s head of wine buying, said, ''The novelty of magnum bottles is something our shoppers never get bored of, and we are thrilled to introduce this new wine for them to try.
“Thanks to the larger bottle size, wines in magnums aren't as exposed to oxidisation, so tend to retain their complexity and mature more slowly. Perfect for an impressive showstopper at a summer BBQ or a talking point at a dinner party, this rosé is an exciting addition to our range. What better way to spend the weekend than enjoying a beautiful rosé with friends?”
