Upmarket UK retailer Waitrose & Partners has launched a new service - Gin O’ Clock - that allows customers to enjoy gin tasting sessions at a location of their choice.
The two-hour tasting session, designed as an 'informative experience', will be conducted by a specialist from the Waitrose Wine Tasting at Home team.
'Informative Experience'
Five types of gin, paired with Fever-Tree tonics, will be offered during the session.
The specialists will share the history of gin and demonstrate the art of blending botanicals using a pestle and mortar.
The tasting will begin with a neat serving of drinks to allow the guests to appreciate the aroma.
Participants also receive a Fever-Tree Dartington crystal glass.
Presently, the service is available for pre-booking in Britain, and is priced at £400 for six to 10 people.
Exploring 'Gin Flavour Profiles'
Drinks experience manager at Waitrose Wine Tasting at Home, Andrew Riding, said, "The Waitrose Wine Tasting at Home Gin O’ Clock experience is a fun and relaxed way for you and your guests to find out more about various gin flavour profiles.
"From knowing how much ice to use, to which glass choice is best, our experience will help hone your gin and tonic making skills."
Waitrose also offers wine and sparkling wine tasting experiences.
The newly launched service, Fizz Fancy, includes prosecco, cava, cremant, English sparkling wine and champagne for £50 per person.
A standard wine tasting experience starts at £30 per head, the company said.
