UK retailer Waitrose has seen a 7% increase in its gin sales year-on-year, according to The Drinks Business.
The retailer now stocks 52 varieties of gin on its shelves, and even teamed up with Heston Blumenthal to launch a special edition ‘Earl Grey Gin’.
“Our customers know their gin and at Waitrose we have a style for everyone,” Waitrose spirits buyer John Vine told The Drinks Business.
He added: “Shoppers continue to enjoy traditional London dry styles with the juniper hit but we have also seen a rise in popularity of Gin Mare, which boasts more rosemary and the flavours of a summer evening.”
In April, Waitrose reported that sales of premium tequila were up in its stores by 21%, compared to the same period last year.
