About 70 farmers herded two cows through an Asda store in Stafford, UK, in protest against the price they are paid for their milk.
The police were called after the protestors took their cattle down the aisles of the store, as reported in the UK press over the weekend.
The background to the protest relates to farmers demanding that the price of milk paid to them by supermarkets needs to be increased.
The Guardian reported British dairy organisation AHDB Dairy Farmers as stating that farmers need to be paid at least 30p a litre of milk to cover their costs, but they were paid an average 23.66p in June.
“This milk should not be cheaper than a bottle of water”, as one of the campaigners explains in a video posted online.
