After a challenging 2020, retailer Christmas adverts were always going to look a bit different this year.
As in years past, ESM has entrusted our pan-European network of elves to gather what we deem to be the best festive retailer adverts currently in circulation across the continent... and we are asking you, our trusted reader, to select what you deem to be the pick of the Yuletide crop.

Carrefour (France)
Santa Claus has his work cut out for him this year, so a little girl seeks to give him encouragement with a thoughtful letter, in Carrefour's Christmas short.
Conad (Italy)
Harking back to a time earlier this year when neighbours engaged from their balconies during the COVID-19 crisis, this advert features a little girl making sure her apartment block gets to enjoy some festive spirit. As the slogan goes, "Feeling part of a community is a gift. Even at Christmas."
Coop (Switzerland)
Coop Switzerland introduces us to Nevi the snow monster, who is feeling a bit down this year... until a brother and sister arrive to make him feel special.
Edeka (Germany)
Edeka's festive ads have always been a little bit off piste, and this year's is no different, as the German retailer introduces us to the idiosyncratic Herr Schmidt – but will a brush with COVID-19 ruin his Christmas?
El Corte Inglés (Spain)
Spanish retailer El Corte Inglés seeks to lift the mood with a festive song and dance number, La Canción de los Elfos (The Song of the Elves).
Esselunga (Italy)
After a challenging year, Esselunga encourages us to rediscover the value and beauty of simple things, with its advert featuring a young boy preparing some festive snacks for his parents.
Jumbo (Netherlands)
Dutch retailer Jumbo turns to a festive classic, Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas, to showcase its delivery service – and rescue a hapless husband.
