Consumer Goods Forum Global Summit
ESM reports from the annual Consumer Goods Forum Global Summit, the meeting point for top CEOs from across the retail and consumer goods sectors. This year's Summit, of which ESM is a media partner, takes place in Vancouver, Canada this year, with speakers including Mark Schneider, the chief executive of Nestlé, Jean-Paul Agon, the CEO of L'Oréal, Judith McKenna, chief executive, Walmart International, Galen Weston, CEO of Loblaws, and Max Koeune, chief executive of McCain, among others.
Table Olives and Olive Oil
The Table Olives category has been boosted by consumer demand for healthy, convenient snacking options, while the Olive Oil category continues to be a major growth driver in the edible oils segment. As the category evolves, so does consumer knowledge about the different olive variants and their respective taste profiles, opening yet more opportunities. ESM explores this vibrant sector.
Tea, Coffee and Hot Drinks
With the growth of at-home solutions such as Nescafé's Nespresso and Dolce Gusto, it's never been easier for consumers to have that 'coffee-shop experience'. But as consumer knowledge about the Coffee category grows, so shoppers are seeking out particular taste profiles, as well as products with good provenance. At the same time, growing interest in health and wellbeing is helping the boost the Tea category, with many retailers looking to expand their private label tea offering. ESM looks at the trends influencing the hot drinks segment.
Bread And Pastry Products
The Bread and Pastry Products category is a hotbed of innovation at present, with new developments in healthier and added-benefit products, the continued growth of sourdough, and a range of innovations aimed at gluten-free consumers. In addition, retailers are developing novel in-store solutions to ensure that they maintain healthy profits from bakery throughout the day, while also keeping waste to a minimum. ESM reports.
