In addition, we present the finalists in our annual European Private Label Awards, and explore the latest trends in Fruit & Vegetables, Refrigeration, Packaging and much more.
Sustainability 2020
The evidence is clear – time is running out to save the planet. Sustainability and environmental awareness are at the forefront of consumers’ minds, to a greater degree than at any point in human history. With that in mind, ESM is proud to present Sustainability 2020, a comprehensive report profiling the retailers and suppliers that are setting the agenda when it comes to making their businesses more environmentally-friendly.
Fruit & Vegetables Europe
The fruit and vegetables sector is a hotbed of innovation, in terms of new product innovation, supply chain efficiency, yield improvement and brand development. ESM investigates the importance of developing a winning fresh produce offering, as well as speaking to some of Europe's biggest retailers about how they strive to exceed consumer expectations in this dynamic category.
Kantar Brand Footprint Report
The Kantar Brand Footprint report showcases the brands that are winning at the 'moment of truth' – when they are chosen by shoppers. Tracking purchasing habits across 43 countries, it's an important barometer of how consumers are shopping on a global level. For the fourth year running, ESM will showcase the most-chosen brands in several key European markets, and examine what these statistics tell us about the continent's shopping habits.
Confectionery
Confectionery is a category that shows little sign of slowing, however consumer demand for more sensible product options is leading to plenty of product reformulation and new product development. Private label suppliers in particular are well-positioned to take advantage of this shift. In this special report, we examine the trends driving the confectionery category.
Refrigeration
With legislation relating to refrigeration continuing to evolve, it's never been more important for retailers to ensure that their refrigeration systems are optimised to meet stringent environmental criteria, while at the same time keeping costs low. In our annual look at the main trends in refrigeration, ESM explores the latest trends and innovations in this sector, and where future growth is likely to come from.
In-Store Lighting
The right sort of lighting can make all the difference as to whether your food displays convey high quality or appear unappetising. Lighting is one of the most important tools in the retailer's arsenal, and can give stores a new lease of life – even without costing the earth. ESM explores the In-Store Lighting category, examining areas in which retailers can benefit from embracing the right lighting solutions.
Household Cleaning & Home Care
The household cleaning and home care categories have seen extensive new product development in recent years, as suppliers seek to promote the added-value credentials of their product ranges – something that private label is particularly well-positioned to exploit. ESM examines the factors that will influence the category's continued growth, and looks at how suppliers in the category are tapping into consumer demand for value, quality and environmental sustainability.
Plus much much more, including:
ESM meets Wouter Kolk, the CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe and Indonesia, to discuss how the retailer is embedding technology into its operations in order to embrace consumer needs in the future.
ESM travels to Japan to meet Hiroshi Narita, senior managing executive officer at Yakult – a pioneering business that is leading the way in terms of gut health and nutrition.
We report from the Consumer Goods Forum Sustainable Retail Summit, taking place in Berlin this October, which will highlight latest innovations in sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
