Danish retailer Føtex is set to open its 100th store in the country on 2 November, with a new supermarket located in Aarhus.
The supermarket chain, which is operated by the Dansk Supermarked group, says that the new outlet will be opened in the same city as its first-ever store. The business's founder, Herman Salling, began operations in Aarhus in 1960.
"Store number 100 is an important milestone," said Thor Jørgensen, director of Føtex.
"We are really looking forward to opening the store, which is in a very attractive area and has shelves filled with delicious goods and convenience products, to meet customer demand," Jørgensen continued.
Price Cuts
In August, the retailer announced that it is permanently lowering the prices of over 2,000 products, including branded and private-label ranges.
"We want to create Denmark's best shopping experience," said Jørgensen, "not only measured on selection and quality, but also on price. We are, therefore, lowering prices significantly on the items that Danish people buy most."
Føtex has gradually been dropping the prices of hundreds of goods since the initiative was announced, saying that this will continue into the new year.
"Our absolute desire [is] to become one of the best-priced stores in the country and to create Denmark's best shopping experience by combining the quality of a supermarket with what discount stores do, namely the price," said Jørgensen.
