Franprix And Leader Price To Stop Selling Battery Eggs By 2020

Groupe Casino has commenced a three-year plan which see it cease the sale of battery eggs in its Franprix and Leader Price supermarkets.

The retail chain has already implemented this change in its Monoprix outlets, for both private label and branded egg brands.

'Through this commitment, the Casino Group seeks to emphasise the special attention it devotes to the production and farming conditions of the products sold in its stores', the company said in a statement.

'The goal to change farming methods will be achieved through a process of transition that requires close collaboration with our partners in the poultry industry'.

Fellow France-based Mousquetaires chains Intermarché and Netto will no longer sell eggs from caged chickens from 2025 onwards, it was announced last month.
