Meat processor 2 Sisters Food Group has announced plans to invest £1.4 million in its beef and sheep plant in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.
The move, which will see supply expanded from the facility, was commenced at the end of last month, and will focus on modernising the beef boning hall within the facility, as well as improving efficiency, quality and process control, according to the company.
More Efficient
“Investment in the boning hall will ensure that we create a leaner, more efficient supply chain at our flagship facility in Wales," said Ranjit Singh, 2 Sisters chief executive. “I’m confident that our Better Before Bigger strategy with its efficiency platform will put us in a good place for the long term.”
Andrew Cracknell, managing director at 2 Sisters Red Meat added that the investment in the cutting operation will "future proof jobs at the site and provide the platform for additional growth in beef sales over the next decade.”
The announcement follows a recent investment of £10 million in the group's innovation and prepared meals facility in South Wales, which was announced in June.
