Ahold Delhaize's Greek subsidiary, Alfa Beta Vassilopoulos, has introduced sea bream and sea bass certified by a new, internationally recognised standard.
The move highlights Ahold Delhaize's efforts to encourage local brands to offer products that will improve its environmental and social footprint.
The new standard was developed by the retailer in association with Nireus and WWF Greece over the past six years.
Sustainable Fish Farming
It has been approved by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), which aims to make fish farming more sustainable and eco-friendly.
Alfa Beta is the first Greek retailer to offer certified sea bream and sea bass, under its own label - AB Choice.
The move also makes Greece the first European country to certify sea bream and sea bass farms according to the new standard.
