According to the Spanish National Association of Packagers and Refiners of Edible Oils (Anierac), the sub-category that has shown the biggest growth within edible oils is 'other seeds', which have tripled in volume during the first quarter of 2016.
However, as reported by efeagro.com, the leader is still olive oil, followed by sunflower oil.
Blended oils also experienced growth, with 12.20% more registered production. Corn oil grew by a modest 0.84% and soy oil decreased by 4.59%.
Sales of pomace oil, which is extracted from the olive pulp after the first press, grew by 22.73%, largely resulting from the current high price of olive oil.
