Dairy giant Arla Foods has sold its cheese production unit in Bad Woerishofen in Germany to Belgian dairy processor, Vache Bleue, reports just-food.com.
According to the dairy giant, the speciality cheese produced in the plant does not align with the 'strategic direction of Arla's business in Germany and Europe'.
The factory will be handed over to the Belgian cheese company by the end of the first quarter of 2019, according to the report.
The Deal
The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but it also includes the sale of all shares of Arla's French subsidiary - Martin Sengele Produits Laitiers - which packages the cheese produced in Bad Woerishofen for distribution in France.
All 73 employees in Bad Woerishofen will be retained by Vache Bleue, the report said.
Employees of Martin Sengele Produits Laitiers are also expected to keep their jobs.
