Fruit and vegetables producer Bonnysa has received the 'Flavour of the Year' distinction for its guacamole – an achievement that is a first for the Spanish market.
In obtaining this accreditation, which is voted on by members of the public, Bonnysa guacamole underwent a thorough organoleptic tasting process, where the main characteristics of the product – flavour, aroma and texture – were assessed.
The Alicante-based company's award-winning recipe is already on sale in Consum and Unide outlets in Spain, and complements the company's existing guacamole range.
Bonnysa Guacamole Production
Bonnysa started producing guacamole in 2017, using its expertise in other categories such as fresh-grated tomato (another winner of the Flavour of the Year award) to enter a new product category.
A careful selection process, as well as its work on maturation, ensures Bonnysa only uses the best raw materials at the right moment of maturity. These are essential qualities in the production of guacamole, which gives it an added value that translates into an intense flavour for consumers.
As Jorge I. Brotóns, Commercial Director, Bonnysa, explains, the Flavour of the Year distinction "reinforces all the work that the company is carrying out around the IV and V range, which already accounts for 20% of our turnover.
"For our entire team, it is undoubtedly a recognition of their work and encourages us to continue developing new products, such as the recently-launched Artichoke Dip and Fiesta Mexicana."
Brotóns added that consumers are becoming "more and more demanding" about the quality of the products that they purchase, which in turn has encouraged the company to reinforce its authenticity.
