Edeka Niemerszein has been named the winner of the annual Lebensmittel Praxis Cheese Star 2016 for ‘best cheese counter in German food retailing’. The winning store is the Edeka outlet at Lange Reihe, Hamburg.
Opened in 2013, the store’s cheese department uses high quality design, innovative displays and promotional tasting campaigns to attract customers and create an attractive and positive shopping experience, the retailer said.
A selection of over 200 products, ranging from mild Gouda to Expresso Cheese from the USA includes locally-produced cheese and a highly-rated cottage cheese, produced in-store by professional cheese makers.
It is the second time that Edeka Niemerszein has won the award, with an Edkea outlet at Oßterstrasse awarded the Cheese Star in 2012.
The awards took place at Rolandseck Railway Station, near Bonn.
