Spanish retailer El Corte Inglés has received the Conecta Award, presented by Mercados Magazine in partnership with Fruit Attraction, in the category Maximun Quality and Freshness.
As reported by efeempresas.com, the award recognises the work of supermarkets and their relevance for the fruit and vegetable producer sector, as well as for the general economy.
The quality and freshness of products at El Corte Inglés has been achieved thanks to the company's strategy involving a 'zero-kilometre' approach, which allows supermarkets to source fruit and vegetables from neighbouring farms, often picked on the day of delivery.
The award was collected by Alvaro de Cabo, El Corte Inglés head buyer in the category, at a ceremony during the Fruit Attraction trade fair in Madrid last week.
