Fleury Michon Buys 19 Per Cent Of Pork Supplier Vallégrain

Fleury Michon, the second-biggest agrifood company in France behind Herta, has purchased a 19 per cent stake in its longtime pork-meat supplier Vallégrain, LSA-Conso.fr reports.

The follows the September 2015 deal Fleury Michon signed with the Avril group, which relates to the supplying of antibiotic-free pork.

Vallégrain, located in Coudray-au-Perche in the Eure-et-Loir region, has a turnover of more than €90 million, and puts 7,000 pigs through its abattoirs each week. Most of the pork produced is classified as high-welfare.

The produce supplied to Fleury Michon by Vallégrain accounts for about nine per cent of the former’s pork. Their business relationship is older than 20 years.
