Dutch dairy giant Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. has announced that it has acquired Best Cheese Corporation - an importer and vendor of speciality cheeses in the US.
Best Cheese will be fully integrated into the FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy USA business.
The former shareholders of Best Cheese, including the Dutch Investment Company, Antea, will not be involved with the business.
Financial details about the transaction have not been disclosed.
Following closely on the heels of the acquisition of Jana Foods, this is the company’s second acquisition in America in this month.
'Delivering The Best Product'
President of FrieslandCampina consumer dairy, Roel van Neerbos, said, “As a part of our transformative strategy, we continue to focus on delivering the best product to serve consumer’s needs.
“The Americas is a strategic growth market for us. By acquiring Best Cheese and Jana Foods we will be able to grow our cheese business in the region further.”
Best Cheese Corporation, headquartered in New York’s Westchester County, offers well-known brands like Parrano, Robusto, Melkbus, and a range of Gouda cheese made from cow, goat, or sheep milk.
The former owner of Best Cheese, Willem Jan Rote, said, “The combination of Best Cheese’s USA position as an established specialty cheese vendor and the strength of FrieslandCampina as the leading supplier of Dutch Cheese, will take the success of our brands Parrano, Robusto and Melkbus to the next level.”
In August of this year, FrieslandCampina announced the acquisition of the activities of Best Cheese Holland, which is now part of FrieslandCampina.
