FrieslandCampina To Sell 'PlanetProof' Cheese

Dairy giant FrieslandCampina has announced that it will introduce its first sustainable, PlanetProof-certified Dutch cheese in April of this year.

The cheese will be sold under its Milner brand, at supermarkets' fresh counters.

'Growing Demand'

Hans Meeuwis, president of Dairy Essentials at FrieslandCampina, said, “In this way, we respond to the growing demand for more sustainable cheese. With this launch, we take a major step forward in our cheese chain, and I am really proud of this."

By the middle of this year, the dairy firm aims to roll out sustainable cheese for the private-label brands of its retail partners.

The PlanetProof quality mark ensures that the product uses raw materials from farms that adhere to high standards of animal welfare, use sustainable energy, and implement means of reducing their CO2 emissions.
