Fruit Attraction, one of the largest trade fairs for the fruit and vegetable industry, has kicked off in Madrid, with some 1,238 companies taking part – an increase of 20% on last year.
The trade fair, which takes place at IFEMA, will also welcome close to 650 buyers from across Europe, as well as thousands of industry delegates.
Among the other attractions taking place at the event are the Alimarket Fruit Chain Workshop, hosted by Alimarket magazine, an Apple and Pear Attraction seminar, hosted by AFRUCAT, and Grape Attraction: The 4th International Congress of Table Grapes, hosted by APOEXPA.
IFEMA and Fruit Attraction have teamed up with the Food Bank of Madrid for this year’s event, in an initiative that will see food from the show donated for food-bank use.
At the 2015 edition, the food bank received donations of 30,200 kilos of fruit and vegetables from exhibitors at Fruit Attraction for charitable purposes – 5,000 more kilos than at the previous edition.
