A leading egg supplier to Spanish retailer Mercadona, Huevos Guillén, increased its turnover by 2.5% in 2015, taking in over €166 million in total revenue.
According to abc.es, the company attributed its success to the 500,000 increase in laying hens it acquired through the acquisition of a Abárzuza farm and the expansion of its facilities throughout Spain.
Huevos Guillén has invested €12 million into the expansion.
Through its collaboration with Mercadona, the company developed a new transport method to deliver the products to the supermarkets more efficiently, resulting in a 64% increase in transport capacity.
